Lower Mekong Initiative Training - Women in Leadership

 
 
Event description: The Lower Mekong Initiative Women’s Leadership Forum: Inform, Engage, and Empower is a three-day professional development event for Professional Communications for Leaders (PCSL) project alumni and regional leaders. The forum will include keynote speakers, panel discussions, breakout sessions, and networking activities with the overall goal of increasing leadership opportunities for women and girls in the Lower Mekong region. It will allow participants to access resources, strengthen their network of professional contacts, and develop initiatives to impact gender equality in their institutions and communities.
At the Women’s Leadership Forum participants will be able to:
  • explore best practices, share insights, and compare experiences 
  • develop of cross-border connections 
  • use English for collaboration
Eligibility: Those applicants showing the most potential for continued advocacy will be selected.
Applicants should be: Detail
  • Nationals from the LMI countries: Burma, Cambodia, Laos PDR, Thailand, and Vietnam
  • Currently working in education, business development, STEM (science, technology, engineering, math), or health and human services
Applicant should have:
  • A level of proficiency in English to be able to contribute to discussions, present in English, and collaborate in joint projects
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in her/his field
  • Experience and/or interest in gender equality issues
  • A desire to contribute to a transnational gender advocacy group

 Step 2: Eligible applicants will be interviewed October 31st - November 4th.
 Step 3:Chosen participants will receive notifications by November 7th.
 Step 4: Participants should confirm participation by November 11th; they will receive an official invitation letter by November 18th.
Participants will receive:
  • Round-trip airfare to/from Hanoi, Vietnam
  • 3-night accommodation at Forum venue
  • Airport transfers and per diem

International Leadership Scholarship

Description:

The University of Glasgow has  20  International Leadership Scholarships available to international (non-EU) students starting a postgraduate taught Masters programme in any discipline in September 2017. The scholarships is awarded as a tuition fees discount of £10,000.

Eligibility: Eligible programmes

To be eligible, applicants must
  • demonstrate academic excellence and achieve grades equivalent to UK 1st Class Honours
  • hold an offer of a place for a postgraduate taught programme for admission in 2017
  • be classed as International students for fee purposes

Level of study: Postgraduate Taught

Value: £10,000

How to Apply: To apply for a postgraduate taught programme, you need to provide:
  • Final or current undergraduate degree transcript (and an official translation) – scanned copy in colour of the original document
  • Degree certificate (and an official translation) if you have already completed your degree: scanned copy in colour of the original document
  • 2 references on headed paper (academic and/or professional – see programme entry requirements)
  • Any additional document specifically listed under ‘Entry requirements’ on the Postgraduate Taught degree programmes A-Z
  • Copy of passport (photo page) – non-EU applicants only

Deadline:

Applicants will be automatically assessed for a scholarships based on academic merit. Applicants who are being considered will be notified within the timeframes below. There is no separate application form required.
1 December will receive their scholarship outcome by 16 December

Congratulations for Winning the YSEALI Innovation Challenge!

Congratulations, Cambodian Team – Cam Fermentation Kits (CFKs) from Institut de Technologie du Cambodge (ITC) for being selected as one of the top three finalists of USAID Asia. After months of hard work and competing with other ASEAN youth on innovative technology-based solutions, CFKs and other 2 teams will be pitching their ideas at the ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Science and Technology in late October.



Speaker Discusses 2016 U.S. Presidential Elections

On September 21, Betsy Fischer Martin, an IIP Speaker on U.S. Elections, led a discussion on 2016 Presidential Elections with more than 200 Cambodian university students, educators and YSEALI members at Pannasastra University of Cambodia. Ms. Martin described the U.S. electoral system, and she highlighted how the election is governed.

Scholarship Opportunity for Cambodian Women to study in the US

SHE-CAN (formely Open A Door) is a US based non-profit dedicated to building global female leadership by equipping young women from post-conflict countries with the training and support they need to win US scholarships and return home as change agents.

SHE-CAN is seeking smart, ambitious, low-income young Cambodian women interested in applying for US college scholarships to join its program for 2017. Applications are due on November 1st.
